Artist Ivan Belikov hails from Chelyabinsk, Russian Federation and is a freelance illustrator who is inspired by beasts, feathers and grass. (Seriously, it says this on his official BEHANCE PAGE.) As we were going through his Behance portfolio, we became immediately enamored with his “Social Networks” series.
Comprised of 6 stunning images, Ivan gives some of the most influential social networks in the world some rather compelling makeovers.
Ivan broke up the series into 2 parts and here is what he had to say about each one.
Unlike part one, which is based on interpreting of social media logotypes, networks from part two do not contain any special images. So for the next illustrations some references which are close to specific media but aren’t strongly connected to them are used.
* By adding the letter “e” TUMBLR transforms into TUMBLeR. This opens more ways of interpreting.
** Random tumbler switch
* “The Photo Address Book” (which refers to as “The Facebook”)
** The interpretation of “The Photo Address Book” in animal stylistic.
* Durov’s Dog (сartoon dog which is used in different ways on Vkontakte)
** The interpretation of Durov’s Dog
VKontakte, Russian: ВКонтакте, literally “in touch”) is the largest Russian social networking service in Europe. It is available in several languages, but particularly popular among Russian-speaking users around the world, especially in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. Like other social networks, VK allows users to message contacts publicly or privately, create groups, public pages and events, share and tag images, audio and video, and play browser-based games.
As of November 2014, VK had at least 280 million accounts. VK is ranked 22 (as of November 1, 2014) in Alexa’s global Top 500 sites and is the second most visited website in Russia, after Yandex. According to eBizMBA Rank, it is 8th most popular social networking site in the world. As of January 2014 VK had an average of 65 million daily users. – Via Wikipedia
